It is an amazing museum for kids who are eager to learn new things. This museum is a full day visit there is lots of knowledge to grasp and one can learn about a lot of things here. I had a limited time, but would love to visit this place again and spend enough time in each section by going through all the information one by one.
I personally liked the fossil lab , where you could actually see individuals cleaning the Fossils, drawing images of fossils. It was a really amazing experience overall. I wish I had more time.
Get ready to walk, but also get ready to learn! What an amazing museum for the family. There are so many exhibits to enjoy. You can easily spend the entire day here. The gift shop is great and kids can collect coins from all Smithsonian museums, so ask at the gift shop. Enjoy!
Frankly speaking, museums, libraries and universities don't come under my travel itinerary. After visiting this museum I have changed. A must visit place while at Washington DC. very well maintained. Crowded but still maintained ambient, clean and hygienic. You need 3-4 hours just to walk through.
I love this museum. Everything is quality, everything is clean. And the entry lines are fast - so (Pro Tip) if you need to use the restroom but are wary of Port-O-Potties, you can get in and out quick, despite a bag check. There is also a cafe with pretty much everything you could want to eat and it's not too expensive for the area. Plus, the ice cream trucks outside are so nice on a hot day. Beware: the live Butterfly exhibit is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
