This ancient site holds historical and cultural significance, featuring some of the world's most renowned ancient Greek architectural masterpieces. What visitors are saying
Should be on ones list for the "must visit" locations within Athens. In addition to the historical site itself, there is a museum at the base of the trail where one can learn more about the history, as well as enjoy a nice gift shop and a restaurant.
Obviously a must visit in Athens. Go early in the morning or in the afternoon. If you are going in summer or during peak season, expect peak number of tourists.
This place gets packed.
Hike up is not bad but there are a ton of people, stopping and taking pictures.
So being your hat, bottle of water and bucket load of patience.
Speechless!!!
I was speechless of the unique site.
It takes you back to history, it’s a feeling that can not be described in words, just have to live it to understand that feeling. If you can’t bear the long waiting in line (especially in the summer time), take the fast pass. Also don’t miss the Acropolis museum, it’s new and probably one of the best I have seen. Whatever you do, don’t miss this lifetime experience!!!
Acropolis is THE HIGHLIGHT of Athens, so a visit is basically a must. Next to the fantastic view over the whole city, the solid and huge construction itself is full of energy and history. Hard to imagine how it was possible to build this in the years it was constructed with the possibilities at those days.
The whole place offers a lot of old artifacts and symbols, but the absolut highlight is for sure the pantheon on the top of the hill. A small and not always known Highlight is as well the old olive tree behind the temple.
